Vice President | Treasurer
Candace rescued her first Boxer in 1994 (Maggie) and fell in love with the breed instantly. The excitement, curiosity, pretzel-twist and nub wiggles of these babies made them impossible to resist! She began working with rescue organizations doing transport, fundraising, and fostering in 2014. Since then she has fostered countless Boxers and Boxer mixes and loved each and every one of them. People often ask her “how can you foster and let the dogs go?”. Candace’s response is always “when you find the right home and the perfect furever family for them it fills your heart with joy and that makes it easy”.
A native of Atlanta Georgia, Candace and her husband Mike have lived in Charlotte, NC for almost 25 years with their resident pups (Zoe and recently rescued SPBR alum Nala). An Accountant by profession, she worked at Compass Group for 23 years in Financial, Project Management and Client Management roles. After making the decision to retire in January 2020 she sought a life filled with heart work instead of hard work. She found her answer with SouthPaw Boxer Rescue in April 2020 as an administrative volunteer which grew into her current role of Vice President and Treasurer. She, along with her fellow Board members and countless volunteers, are committed to saving as many Boxers as possible in this lifetime. Come wiggle with us!
